Update - there's a lot of processing power being swallowed up from areas even the tame geek at work can't sort out. So, as this lappie is a cheapie I bought to leave in the MH at all times it has nothing stored on it that is worth losing. As a result I'm going to do a full system restore and then be very careful to monitor exactly what is doing what as I add a few programs to it.

I'll report back later.............

today I threw dolly out of the pram closely followed by the laptop Laughing

I have spent the past 3 evenings doing a full system restore, then done SP1 and SP2 Vista updates and finally added Auto Route to it.

It works really fine - until I start to move and then the same thing happens all over again.

So it has ended up on ebay for sale as it just doesn't have fast enough processing power for me, I'm not convinced the 512mb + 1gb RAM card is really operating at 1.5gb - I've spied a nice 4gb Toshiba in PCWorld which is also just the right size at 13inch so that I can stash it on the dash where the other one @15 inch had to be lap held

So let's see how I manage to foul this one up when I get it Laughing

I agree with "IanA" if the screen is constantly trying to refresh you need to go to Display/Settings and reduce the screen resolution to about 1280 by 720 pixels. If you plug your laptop into a bigger screen for planning, as I do, you need to change the resolution back again. Do it enough times and the laptop will do it by itself eventually.
