I have to say since having this unit I haven't come across any difficulties, the internet is easy to set up, just as fast as at home and the handset is even clearer than my mobile phone and cheaper!! I might just ditch my Nokia!! haha But for me the best thing about this is that i can surf, look at my E-mails, whilst she makes the calls to whoever they talk to for ever on end!

Hi Alexp there doesn't seem to be much difference between regional bgan and bgan, according to the blurb rbgan covers most of europe, with further coverage in late 05.
Hi jim that £299 is regional bgan, but unless you are full timing in america it sounds like the one to go for. Only snag I can see is the cost at £400 per 68meg thats 5.88 per meg not cheap.
Wifi is becoming more available throughout europe in campsites ect. that along with internet cafes and a data card has got to be the cheapest option, with sat. being dearer but more convenient.
Last cafe I used abroad in France was 3 euro's per 15 mins. and in england £2 per 20 mins near Taunton
Here in suffolk we still have areas without a signal good enough for my data card, mine seems to need a better signal than the phone to operate, don't know if thats the norm or not?
In five years it will all be different again I suppose,
Olley

Hi Rapide,
I am also a technophobe, but notwithstanding have just equipped my self with a WiFi laptop.
This is to be used in my motorhome as
1) CD player
2) DVD player
3) Multi Standard TV set
It has a good wide screen for this purpose.
CD and DVD are built in, the multistandard TV player is a Haupage unit that plugs into a USB port.
So, I thought, why not try Internet and e-mail (which I usually do on my desktop in my office, or on the road on my N9500)
Well, Wi-Fi is widely available now in Italy so no problem there, especially on motorway service areas, although you do have to pay for a password.
Some resort areas are beginning to provide free Wi-Fi, and all you have to do is switch on your computer. If there is a signal it will find it.
My other solution is using my N9500 as a GPRS modem which gives me a connection speed of 57+ kbps. Not great but adeqquate. This is simply achieved by plugging the Nokia into a USB port with a cable, or connectiong via bluetooth.
Hope this is all clear and not waffle, and helps your decision.
saluti,
eddied
