The mobile phone is registered thus "THEY" have info on you and to that phone the password is sent. On occasions, a kindly manager of McDonalds in Germany during our trips has given us a code he obtained for us on his mobile.

So someone intending to use their internet for nefarious purposes is going to have a phone registered in their own name are they?
I doubt it.

Do you have to get fresh code each time you want to log on.

Did you actually try with your UK number? Aldi flat rate for one month here in Germany costs 15 Euros for internet !!! And the law here says you are obliged to secure your network to the best of your ability so,if you are a bobo then it wont be so well secured but legal ,if you are an IT expert then it will be well secured ,and what do you mean no free internet in Germany by Micky Ds,no free internet for you ? Micky Ds want your mobile number so that they can check who was on the net at that time if someone was being naughty, fair enough eh!

Yes, but the default number field already has the German international code (+49) entered and it cannot be changed to +44 etc.

I could not see how to enter a non-German number.

The same system is used by Hotel B+B in France, but they allow a non-French number to be used.

It's not so bad - motorhoming in Germany without internet make me feel I am on holiday in victorian times. Cool If I only remembered to bring my corset.

You have to enter the mobile phone number on the opening page of the wifi provider and yes we tried entering our UK and Spanish numbers but to no avail. It is also a one log on password, once you log off you have to go through the process again. "T" mobile run the easiest way of wifi in Germany if you are visiting for a short time and then returning to the UK. €30 for a month and what you don't use in Germany you can use in the UK.

As I suspected then. Rolling Eyes

At least the Hotel B+B login from the same sort of set-up lasts forever.

No more McD coffees in Deutschland then - their loss Laughing
