Which battery did you change?what is the led doing on the keypad?and can you set the alarm with the four digit pin number if you can you should be able to disarm the system and if you can disarm the system you can recode the fob to your alarm as long as all 10 buttons work on the keypad i will not post on here how to do due to it being a security device but if you pm me with the answers i can send you the code to do via the keypad.

Rest in peace dad (ICDSUN) proud to be your son love forever xxxx
Exploring all the avenues now, it may be to do with the vehicle's own system which might require using the original 'red' ignition key - have you tried that?

I´m not really as paranoid as everyone thinks I am
First a special thanks to kandsservices for free and personal advice, even on the phone.
Second. Do not try to change engine battery without backing up the power with an alternative while you do the job. I was advised to do this, but with typical Adonisito gung ho, didn't bother.
Third. The bloke is coming in the morning to sort it out and replace the immobiliser, cost to me 150 quid (on the cheap side) .
Lesson : If you have a sigma m30 or m series immobiliser DO NOT CHANGE THE BATTERY without a back up power source.
I know, I know, I should have listened! 150 quid buys lots of wine.
