I have a 15" avtex with what sounds like the same power plug partially obstructing the scart socket but find that I can use the scart ok, perhaps because I spent some time looking for a particularly flexible scart lead? I agree that it is a bit of a design lash-up.
I use a scart lead for the opposite reason, hdmi on freesat box but not on older avtex.
I have phoned Avtex and it appears that there are two types of power lead, one comes straight out the other has the 90 degree dog leg. The latter is OK for all those not using scart to AV adapters and probably some small scart to scart leads.
I think some people replying to my post misunderstood and thought it was a normal scart to scart lead I was trying to use. These may well connect with the dog leg power lead as they are smaller than the adapters but even so a straight out power lead would be more appropriate.
So if you are buying one of these and intend using a scart to AV adapter just check the power lead in the box, if it is a straight connector you will be OK.
Avtex are going to swap my leads but they have none in stock until some time in November, and I have to send mine back first, so I will be without TV until then, not the end of the world as I purchased it mainly for next season.
As an aside I also noticed on their website that if you purchased a TV from them this month and register online you get three years extended warranty free if this helps anyone.

You can buy a scart lead with scart socket on one end and AV+Audio sockets on the other end, maybe this would fit better than an adapter.

You are probably correct this type of lead may well work although as Avtex are going to replace the power leads I think that will be better, I'll just have to be patient.
