Whilst away in the van last weekend, I tried adding Channel 5 to my (cardless) system. Thanks to the info on here, I inputted the necessary information and Ch 5 popped up on the channel list. I clicked the yellow button on my Sky remote and a tick appeared next to Ch 5.

The only trouble is.....I could not find it anywhere. Confused

Can someone please help this thickie out as to what I did wrong. I need to get this sussed out as my Sky subscription for the house is due to end shortly.

Also, is the Freesat card worth buying?

Thanks

You can have all the FTA channels using an old Sky box including Channel 5. But you have to manually tune it in like this...........

This is for channel 5 The way to do it as follows:•
Go to the 'Services' menu button using the remote control and choose option 4 for System Setup then 4 again
for Add Channels.
Type in the frequency for channel 5 10.771
Polarisation to Change H
Symbol rate to 22
Change FEC to 5/6
Select 'Find Channels'. Select Five
press yellow save button
`job done
enjoy

If you have a working sky card in the box then channel 5 will appear on sky channel 105.

If you boot a sky box up without a sky card, then 105 will not appear. so you have to manually add it...and access it via "services, other channels" list. The manually added channels will not appear on the EPG or on 105.

You do no need a card for Freesat, just a Freesat box.
There is no such thing as a Freesat card.
Freesat give access to the Free to air channels.
Without any sort of card.

A "freesatfromsky" (or "free to view") card allows access, in a sky box, to the "free to view" channels.

Even if you cancel your sky subscription, the card will continue to work to "unlock" the free to view non subscription channels - like Five, Five*, Five USA, some itv1 regions, five HD, sony tv, pick tv lfct, motors tv.

Well I am getting closer to a solution. Confused

If Ch 5 does not appear on the EPG or at 105, where and how will I find it ?????

Come on..... the suspense is killing me. Laughing

As someone has already said you have to go SERVICES and then OTHER CHANNELS.

I refer you all back to my original post with emphasis on the word 'thickie'. Very Happy

You have finally hammered home the point and I am extremely grateful. I shall now go away and sulk in the corner. Embarassed

Its ironic that last weekend I was at the Northumberland Vintage Tractor Club rally and I felt quite at home around all of the old machinery and vehicles. It's official then, I am a Dinosaur now. Rolling Eyes

Thanks for your patience.
