Just a thought ..If dont need the Corry etc fix you could get films and a few of the American series ie NCIS- Bones etc on Spanish Digital.

What you need is a digital free to air (terestrial) Aerial and a free to air dvt box apparently the UK ones will work ..You will then get the Spanish digital programmes and it is possible to change the language on the box to English in most instances..I do this occationally.Hey presto your set up for the dark nights

This is not a satellite system.

Dont bring an analogue box we are all digital now.

As mentioned channel reception depends where in Spain you are and your dish size...

In the very north east of Spain - all UK channels should be available on 80cm dishes.

Then the further south (towards alicante) you go the reception of the "free to air" channels like BBC and ITVs gets worse so a bigger dish is required. Hence why many expats have 2.4m dishes just to get BBC1!

And the south of alicante the reception of these channels increases...due to the nature of the satellite beam...(either error or by design)

Yet about 150 UK TV channels should always be available to you..as should about 50% of the Sky pay package...as they are on more "expat freindly" satellite beams that those BBC and ITV channels.

Sky News International
CNN Interntional
and thats about it.
Astra 1 group of satellites are mainly French, german and SPanish channels, and a few others in there also....some free to air, most pay.

Last week we couldn't get sky in Surrey site, another motorhomer told us to change the channel 12.441, presto- back with full channels, would this have any effect in Spain or France or do you go on to Astra 1?

For UK TV you need to align the dish to astra 2a, 2b, 2d, 1n, and Eurobird 1. YOu will not get ANY UK channels on Astra1

YOu had to change your frequncy to 12441 as the previous frequency yoour dish use to use (11954) no longer has any channels (or signal) so your dish had nothing to lock onto..but using 12441 that currently has a signal so your dish used that to lock onto.

TDT is Spains version to Freeview. About 40 digital channels. ALl Spanish channels. There are no UK TV channels available terrestrailly in Spain. However, in most cases, on UK and USA imported programme you can change the audio from the dubbed Spanish to the propgrammes original language...Top Gear was on this morning!

You can get several English speaking programs.... BBC World, RTV, France24 and others but mostly news programs.

alicante region is the toughest area to get the main uk channels, now my dish has the lnb on an offset so my oyster probably is the equivalent of a 70 cm dish now. i am in that area now and have itv 1 and itv+1, channel 4 and channel 5. so only missing the bbc's. regards sean

Thats because those ITV1s and Fives are not FTA, and are FTV and require a sky card, and not on Astra 2d (with the other FTA regions), but on Astra 2 south beams.....although they may well not be available on there for long, as Astra 1n is now in place and those FTV channels are expected to move to 1n before xmas...
the irish c4s may well stay where they are, but expect c4hd to move to 1n also....

so by the end of the year it looks like no more ITV1 or fives on small dishes in spain....
