We've run up against this same problem when travelling round the Balkans, Russia, Turkey, etc.

British insurers don't seem to realise that we are paying out hundreds of pounds at various borders to get 3rd party cover when that cash could be in their bank accounts if they just got their act together.

I'm sure if they did they could not only make money but also bring down our costs in the process.
