I don't know the width of the average panel van but I ran an AS Transit Pollensa at one time and that was the narrowest coachbuilt I could find at the time:
2.17m excluding mirrors
2.51m including mirrors.
Not sure if you would see that as narrow enough?
Of interest, my Transit Connect (that small van) measures 1.80m and 2.05

My old Y reg Machzone/Ducato is 6' 8" - fine but frustrating at times given the number 6' 6" width restrictions in the New Forest. Vehicles in general seem to be getting bigger all round, I doubt I'd get a comparable new MH, coachbuilt or conversion, in my drive from what I've seen at dealers.

Thanks Guys.
Plenty food for thought there. Looks like I will finish up with a PVC (there are some very nice (expensive) ones now. I love tootling round the small villages and lanes in France so hence the width problem. The Vantage NEO looks very nice but really want a lhd.
Thanks for your inputs.
tuk-tuk.

Like you, I like going down the narrow lanes but also enjoy a fixed bed and full size shower. My Autosleeper Palermo suits me and is narrow enough to park beside my home with the cars.
