Sorry, faulty arithmetic. The VAT-exclusive value would be 83.3% of original purchase price. Even so, the VAT issue may be worth bearing in mind.

Hi and welcome.

In an ideal world, you could buy your new van now and sit on the other until spring, even considering the cost of interest for the intervening period, you could still come out substantially in front.

I should add that accountancy isn't my forte, but it doesn't seem too daft an idea if you could borrow at a good rate.

Hi Klumkers

having bought and sold boats and motorhomes on more than a just a few occaisions my advice would be -

Keep it clean and warm over winter. Sell it privately middle of March.

Why? Whichever MH you get next you're not going to use much in the coming 5 months anyway regardless of how much you convince yourself you will.
Secondly you will always get a far better price privately than trading in. It used to be the other way around years ago but not now. They all want to make silly profits out of you these days.

One MH I had I got £13500 for it privately after 3 days of advertising as opposed to the £10000 that the dealer offered as a trade in. You might also want to think about buying privately. If you make a couple of grand on the sale of yours and a couple of grand on the one you want to purchase it soon adds up.
Believe me there are nearly as many people in here complaining about their purchases with dealers as there are about private sellers. A mate of mine spent £42 grand on a brand new MH and had terrible problems from both the product (the MH) and the dealer getting things sorted. I [paid just over half that for my 5 year old privately sold MH and (touch wood) not a blip.

Think with your head not your heart mate and welcome to the forums.

Paul.
