I recently synced my ipod and it asked me if i wanted to download the latest software (Version 5) which I did.
I've had nothing but problems since.
After downloading and snycing it all, the music (250+ albums) on my ipod dissapeared but was still there on itunes.
I unplugged, reconnected and synced again and the music came back.
Today, I have just added 2 new albums to itunes via cd. Synced again to the ipod, now all my music is there on itunes but only a few (55) songs are on the ipod which are the 2 cds I downloaded and the rest is the few tracks I've bought from itunes in the past - all the other imported stuff has gone walkies.
I've synced, resynced until i'm blue in the face and its still the same.
Any ideas please before it all goes out of the nearest window
There was a warning on install that all music would be deleted but you should be able to get it back.
Have you checked on the Music Tab in Itunes that all music is selected?
That's the tab you get when you click on the Ipod.
Click on the list of songs and then press ctrl and "A" at the same time then drag the songs to the Ipod on the left. You should get a red icon with the number of song on it as you leave the list of songs.
Edit :The Ipod should be listed under devices on the left of Itunes

Ahh, didn't know you could do that.
I got all excited as it does show the number of albums moving across in red, but then goes through the sync process but at the end is still the same.
I've just done another sync and noticed that during the process the blue 'audio' bar on the capacity slider at the bottom shoots up to 12gb but then goes back down again after the sync.
Sorry I cannot help any further, however you can use Share Pod to copy your songs (and other media) between your Ipod and computer. I used it the other night to copy Apps from my sons Ipod to the computer.
