Thanks all.

Debs, Its all set up to copy the music to a remote hard drive, it must have been 'seeing' the ipod as the apple music was going across no problem, anyway I think we're ok now, fingers and everything crossed.

Its a 64gb so plenty of room for the music.

I've spent a good couple of hours re loading the non apple music back on and it seems to be back where it was before the dreaded software update.

If it happens again then its def going on ebay as Bob suggested and i'll buy something with no ties to apple, end of.

Pete

iTunes is the spawn of the Devil!

Ive lost count of the number of clients that have screwed up their iphones because of it.

Do you remember when you could just plug a phone into your computer and drag and drop music, photes and the like to it using windows Explorer? Dead easy wasnt it?

No doubt I will be battered now by the Apple Deciples but as soon as I see the word iTunes the red mist appears!

Sorry. No help whatsoever to your problem, hope you get it resolved.

DTP. Your right. Stay well clear!

If they had read everything there is no need to lose anything as before it does anything it asks if you want to take a backup, answer is always "Yes" or should be, Then if there is any problem, Just Restore, I have had numerous Iphones, Ipods of all generations and Ipads and not lost a single thing.
