Hi All

This is my first post on the forums.

I have an Autosleeper Amethyst and there is some slight scuffing and scratching on the fibre glass which are not deep, just on the surface.

Can I use T CUT on these marks to remove them?

I am afraid of leaving horrible marks.

If TCUT is not suitable, then what would be?

Thanks.

Regards
Ked

I would never (well I did once!!) use T Cut on Fibre Glass...it will remove the gel coat.
It simply needs filling but I'll let the experts comment Smile

when we collected our new van we pointed out some light scratching on the windows
They promptly used Tcut to remove them

no marks left,so I would think it ok for fibre glass, but test a bit that doesn't show first if you are worried

I imagine someone will be along that knows the answer for definate soon

Use car polish on plastic windows for light scratches. Use T Cut if they are really deep but beware!

Hi

The monocoque body on an Autosleeper has a very thick gel coat and this will withstand quite a bit of rubbing down with a proprietry rubbing down compound , my favorite for the job would be Farecla ( best one is the G3 . I used to use it on my Executive and my vintage cars so I know it will do the job.

Farecla <<

Not only will it remove those light scratches but it will revive any areas that have lost the original shine.

If you have never used a rubbing down compound on a vehicle finish before you will need to take care and not go at it too hard until you get a feel for it . For polishing/cutting by hand use a damp cotton cloth and polish with a straight backwards and forwards motion then finish polish with another clean dry soft cotton cloth. Don't try to do the job in direct sunlight and never allow the compound to dry out while working it ...just keep the cloth dampened.

but an acceptable substitute which you may find easier is from:

Halfords <<

Best of luck

Mike

P.S. Farecla is what I think they may have used at Cheltenham Laminating when the body came out of the mould and was originally finished.

Reason for change by spykal: added the PS
