On the list of stuff that needs replacing after our trip is a new TV for the the back lounge.
The current one is an ancient very small flip top TV / DVD player 9" screen (i think). I bought it from Japan nearly then years ago way before they were around here. Its battered and falling to bits.
It sits on the unit just above seat height and as we are close to it in the lounge it doesnt need to be huge. Perhaps 9-11" would do.
The other reason for wanting a small one is I had a 19" one once from a caravan place that went through the battery power in no time. Im assuming the smaller the screen the less power?
As we use a Camos dome we dont really need one with freeview or TV as its really just going to be used as a monitor.
The current model has a Red, Yellow and Red lead (RCA?) coming from a Scart lead on the back of the Sat Receiver which plugs into a three to one 3.5mm jack plug which goes into the auxilary input on the side of the telly. So any replacement will need the same.
Hi Barry. We have a 10" TV/DVD that I bought from Maplin about 6 years ago (a Nikkai). It has brilliant picture quality but a poor angle of vision.
Like you, we use it when we have to nurse battery capacity. The only downside is that you have to use a TV aerial as I cannot see how to couple it to a sat dish.
Hope that helps.
You got a bump if nowt else.

MEOS (sold on eBay or diddydigital) are cheap and cheerful, but have pretty much the same fuctions as the avtex, and work on 12v direct and even when battery is low.
I have the 13.3" and whilst the screen could be a better viewing angle (up /down) it is the best price I've seen for that size and farily low power. They do smaller ones.
747. Doesnt it have a yellow jack plug on the side for input? If it has you get a three way Red. Yellow and White cable that has a single 3.5mm jack lead on the end. You then plug a standard RCA type lead into that. Least thats how our current one works. The big telly we have for when we have splashed out and paid for some electricity has the standard three red, white and yellow plugs on the back so we dont need the adapter. Actually the 13" one sounds good. Might just carry one telly then if its low power usage.

We're not huge TV fans, but felt we might occasionally like to watch an odd programme in the van now and then.
We were lookng for around a 10"- 12" screen, and preferably with an independent power supply, as well as the ability to run off 12 volts.
Hunted all over and eventually came across a smaller 7" Sovos TV on the John Lewis website. It was a web-only offer for £99, but of course it came with the standard John Lewis 5-year guarantee at no extra cost, which we thought was worth a lot.
Decided to buy it and if didn't like it send the TV back. In the event, we think it's amazing - the picture quality is superb ((though the sound is a bit tinny). It even came with it's own boosted aerial, which we've frequently managed to get adecent picture with, but not always.
By now, I was on a roll and couldn't resist buying a portable Aldi satallite kit for £49. To my surprise, we got an absolutely perfect picture when we were in the southern Dordogne.
Anyway, unfortunately, the TV no longer appears to be on the John Lewis website (and to my knowledge it was never available in the shops). But you can buy the set on Amazon - £135, but I think only with a 12-month warranty.
