I've had just about every AV device possible, but this thing is just a total nightmare to use.
It's taken the best part of 30 minutes just to get the damned thing to recognise the TV.
It would be so bad if there was user guide in the box, but no just a single A4 sheet showing what all the buttons and connectors were for, fortunately I downloaded a PDF as there is no way in hell that this could be considered intuitive.
I hope his bloody planes are easier to fly than this.
I never liked Sky from day 1 but at least the remote works properly, and was set out by someone with a clue.
And don't get me started on the crap they've left hanging below the box on the wall, very pleasant to look at NOT.
And why on earth does it not come with a scart lead.
I take it then that you consider it's Virgin on the ridiculous

Neither is the Tivo box, no wonder it's shaped like a dogs bone, it's a bout as much use.
It must be special to Virgin as we had the original Tivo box which Sky used before they developed the Sky+ box and the Tivo box was superb.
Much more user friendly than the Sky+ box but didn't have two tuners.
I'm sure it will get better with use, but it's well clunky, I've just taken nearly an hour to setup all the stuff I had to record on Sky, it doesn't help that the channel line up is different, and that I couldn't find an up to date list of the Virgin channel numbers.
With Sky all I had to was find what I wanted to record, R button, then Green button, done, Virgin seems to want me to wear out the OK button.
Ouir Tivo (Virgin) was installed gving us a free box for another room with no charge and I am having difficulty understanding why it is difficult; other than it is faulty.
It has help actually on it.
Top button gives you choices, choose section, choose item - job done.
Use the right cursor key to move to options on chosen item and then choose delete or whatever from there.
Still confused so I think I must have missed something in your question.
I have the Virgin V+HD box and my son has the Virgin TiVo box. He suggested I ask for a TiVo, but someone told me it cost another £3 a month. I've had loads of Virgin mailshots through the door promoting TiVo, saying it's also available for existing customers with free activation, but nowhere does it tell me how much it is going to cost.
I'm not that bothered, and if they don't have the courtesy to tell me ....

Pusser - did you have to get Virgin to activate that second box or did it simply work when you fed a cable to it? I have a spare box that could go in the study which has a Virgin cable feed for my broadband.
Location: Brimington, Chesterfield, Derbyshire and Acharavi, Greece
Status: Offline
I have Virgin broadband at 100 meg I also have virgin phone and of course Sky, Just ordered Tivo as I have discovered I will be saving about £15 P/M doing so and cancelling Sky, My mate has it and swears by it, he says it is easier than Sky, But I don't know cos as yet it isn't installed, they come 14th Nov to do it.
Not only that we are sick of Sky breaking up in winter.

We had the virigin box which you can record on which is what you have I think and I paid a one off fee so this is yours to do with as you wish.
However. when the engineers came to do my tivo box which is sited in an upstairs bedroom (bit diff to visualise) they ran a further cable through my garage and into the lounge for the existing box to be moved there. I think I pay a small amount extra p.m but if you have the whole lot inc. broadband and telephone if hardly makes a difference. I cannot remember if I had to pay for the install - I think I did but there was no charge for sorting out the existing box for me sited in a new place,
I was so impressed I gave them £20 tip as it was a good half hours extra work.
Both boxes were working and I really do not know if they had to be activated. I would imagine they would. I don't think you can just stick another box on as it works similar to a Mac address on a network (I think)
p.s. In my view it is the best system going known to man
I've set up a few progs to record to get used to it while our Sky contract ends, but the "my planned recordings screen is a bit confusing see pics below.
I get the single R = single recording
I get the Triple R = series recording
But I can't find the tick icon explained anywhere.
The first program should have the triple R too as it's a series record, all the following have the right icon.
