I had the same problem and found that because my setup was over 3 years old, the software needed updating. Robert Jackson does this at a cost of £35

Give him a ring on 0800 107 1112 and he will advise accordingly.

His website is:

He did mine and it works great now.

Hi - ours is also over three years old, but I managed to do the update myself using the information from the ten hafft site. Worked a treat first time and done in about 5 mins.

Steve

Hi I just thought I would add to my last post. We tried over the phone to do the update. When we got to Shanes, he had the information that you have just posted about, Shane tried to do the update, and we explained that we had already done all this with oyster.

After a couple of phone calls Oyster emailed the updates to Shane (he had the equipment etc to do the update) once mailed through he connected up computer etc to our box and did the update. We were def told that with our particular box we wouldn't be able to do it ourselves....the box is approx 4 years old. We had also had software updates on it a couple of years ago.

Apparently my Mk1 vision is so old that no more upgrades will be available in future Shocked Shocked Ten Haaft uk will upgrade for £67 and that's it Shocked
I am considering Dome. Can any of you helpful people recommend a dome and any problems connected with them like rain etc. OR should I stick to an Oyster dish?

Thanks in advance

We've got the Camos dome and had no problems at all locking onto satellite, no matter what the weather.

Ooops!! That could apply to our Vision as well then Richard!! I wonder if it's possible just to be able to buy a modern Vision control box and replace the old one?? Methinks that sounds too easy and if feasible would most probably be not cost effective against installing a more modern system!! More investigation is on the cards - I will post when I find anything out!

Regards

Chris

Ok I borrowed an updated unit yesterday from Steve at Essanjay motorhomes down in Poole but still no Joy as it turns out you will also prob need a new faster LNB which has been ordered so I'm now going to have to wait until my unit has been updated and sent back, word of warning some units will be just scrap as its not possible to update the earlier chips fitted in some units so you had better start giving the china piggy a rattle to see if there is enough doh!

Hi

I have a Oyster I & have been in contact with Oyster UK - mine can't be upgraded at they do not have a software upgrade for the older chip set a 103 but only for the 128 chip set.

Beware - from speaking to other traders it appears that the manufacturer Oyster in Germany did not want to upgrade any Oyster I's & wanted us all to buy a new Oyster II box at £700 however an upgrade program was released by mistake. It appears that all they have to do is change the transponder number in the software.

I have also been informed that this will be the last software upgrade they will do for any Oyster I's !!!

Apparently they tried this tactic with their German customers when they needed a software (firmware) upgrade for Astra 1 & they kicked up such a fuss that they relented & had to issue an upgrade.

Yes my system is 2003 - 8 years old but I feel they do not want to support the product any more. They basically have chosen not issue new software & expect everyone to buy new kit from them.

So all Oyster I owners be prepared.

Regards Captain Bligh

P.S. I previously worked for a German company that felt that they had a legal obligation to support any product under 10 years old & regularly repaired items 20 years old.

yes our old oyster finds astra 2 ok but.....

Our oyster vision came with the van which we got in 2009.

The van is June 07 registered so the sat system could be as old.

The dish locks on to "astra 2" ok but I go to astra 1 first, mainly because when I wanted to check out the RTL channel for future formula 1 I did not know how to get it to default back to astra 1 Embarassed

i dont know if its of any relevance but when we purchased the van it had a pace mini box for sky fitted but as we do not need sky we got a freesat box .

Now I know this is going slightly away from the specific question but when the dealer fitted our freesat box he disconnected the pace mini box but he wired the connections through a large box at the back of the wardrobe. I dont know what this box is for as I have never seen it on any of the oyster adverts but it has the words EXTEM and GPS on
it.

As we have never had any problems I have never bothered about it but with all these recent problems with people locking on to astra 2 I am now wondering if it helps or even what it does. I havent got a clue and the dealer is no longer.
