Well I have downloaded Adobe Flash Player 11 something.
I switched to IE9 32 bit and talktalk banner came up but nothing else.
Looked in manage add ons again and it still says Adobe shockwave Flash object. can't see the newly downloaded adobe flash player unless its one and the same. Anyhow it is enabled.
There are Java updates are required for both the 32 bit and 64 bit versions of IE. If you go to the Java site using the 64 bit version it has an article about using the 32 and 64 bit versions on the same computer.
There is a version checker available for 32 and 64 bit browsers which will test if you have the latest version.. search Google for Java updates for 32 bit IE it is Version 6 update 29. May be another path to explore!!
I downloaded Java ? with the 64 bit and then switched to ie9 32 bit and tried to download for that but it wanted to replace what I had downloaded!
Anyway I can see the Java download on the my documents, downloads section but can't see it in the programs list. So not sure if I have downloaded it properly or not
Anyhow in internet options/advanced tab it doesn't show Java as it does on my win xp .
I don't even see the adobe flash plaer I downloaded in the programs list.
Gosh why can't they make using a pc easy. I didn't have problems when I bought the previous laptop with win xp , all the start up went fine.

Happy Holidays to everyone for 2012
The above is only a personal opinion

There are two different Java download files for updating the different versions of IE 9 namely 32 bit and 64 bit
the two files are
jre-6u29-windows-i586-iftw
jre-6u29-windows-x64
You could be forgiven for not noticing which is which! Anyway if they made it too easy how could software firms sell you "Tune UP and "Fix it" software!!! Just remember "To Err is himan but to really foul things up requires a computer"!
The first file is for the 32 bit version of IE
The second ending in x64 is for the 64 bit version.
I have just bought a new Netbook that uses a 64 bit version of Windows and researched the reason for a 32 bit and 64 bit version of Internet Explorer. The concensus seemed to be that 32 bit was all you really need! Others on this site may give some advantages.
However I kept both versions and upgraded using the advice from the Java weblink above.
If you are struggling with Flash installs then the Adobe website claims that is you update Flash using the 64 bit version of IE9 then the 32 bit version gets automatically updated as well.
Flash and 64 bit IE
If you get the 32bit version to run without any problems it is probably worth setting it as the default browser or removing the 64 bit version? Making 32 bit version the default is likely to be trickier than the get rid of the 64 bit version. The easiest of all would be just to have the main icon that launches Internet Explorer to link to the 32 bit version, which I suspect it does at the moment?
