An ipod is indeed an mp3 player (plus a bit more) whilst an ipad is a tablet computer. Suggest you look here at Apple's website where all is no doubt explained.
Now you know its an ipod they want, you now have to decide which version to choose. They come in three flavours, 8gb, 32gb and 64gb, depends on how much music, photos and films you want to store on it.
The 64gb is very expensive but to put it into perspective, I currently have about 200 albums (whats an album dad?) and 50 odd photos on mine and its only used about a third of its space. I would think films also take up a fair bit of space but I don't use mine for that.
Another thing, the flashy chrome backing will get scratched without protection so get a good cover for it.
I recently fell out of love with my ipod, they can be a real pain come software update time especially when you have non Apple music on them.
Now its sorted and i'm back in love with it.
Just another thought, you can get them engraved free via the apple store which is a nice touch but won't help if you want to sell it on later.
6 Children eh, hope they don't all want 64gb ipods
