Hi,

Phoned our local Fiat dealer and they have logged it but will have to order the parts and will be at least two weeks and possibly a longer delay due to high demand Sad

You would think they would stock up - on the other hand - no they wouldn't Razz

Steve

Northern Commercials in Brighouse have said the parts are available overnight/next day.

Wonder what the case is with those who retrofitted the spare wheel carrier having bought a chassis with no spare wheel.
Will FIAT replace them? will find out soon as it's due a service.

Was it supplied and fitted by an authorised Fiat agent and the accessories section of the vehicle record booked stamped?

You can have the slot for my Chausson which had no spare wheel or carrier but is part of the recall campaign.

We have had an ongoing dispute with Fiat for months. We lowered the carrier to check the tyre, then it would not wind back up again. Ordered a new one from Fiat because we were going away in the van. Fixed it on and found that it now is accessed offside instead of rear. A bit dangerous in UK !!!
Took the old carrier to bits, found the mechanism/wire hawse was destroyed. Complained to Fiat - van only 08 ! Ater a long communication they eventually gave us £150 in vouchers as recompense. Great - not - the carrier cost us £215.
Then - received a recall. Rang them up again and now, after several more phone calls we will receive a cheque for the difference from the garage we bought the carrier from, after they process a claim and Fiat pay them.
Still not happy, we have to spend the £150 with Fiat.
Their excuse :-
Fiat UK have no method of issuing cheques - the garage is doing us a favour processing a claim for us. WHAT !!
Can't get anywhere - thinking of going to Watchdog. Might seem trivial but its the principal. Everyone else had this done for free - we are tied to spending £150 with Fiat.
Not happy.

Had mine done on Monday, but what a different bit of kit, it looks and feels solid whereas the old one was trash. However, one question about the new carrier, will the tools as originally supplied work on the new fitting?

Ours was done at Northern Commercials in Brighouse last week. A new tool was provided and a new page to go in the handbook to show how to remove/replace the spare wheel.

Mine was done today at Autoworld Chesterfield but no-one said anything about a new tool or instructions Question

Had a quick look underneath and the outer collar/shroud just rotates so presumably it needs a special socket or will the original one work. They removed the old mechanism.

Hi,
Had a better look underneath at the new carrier and tried the existing hex bar and extension that seems to fit in the socket.

I noticed that the rotating collar has holes in it so I put a long shank (?) padlock through it which should prevent or at least deter theft of the spare - as long as I remember where I've put the key Wink
