I just tried looking through a suggested previous post but getting to the gritty bit in 50+ pages is a slog!

I don't have a solution but threads that are questions need to have a summary of most useful comments that answer the question.

The thanks button doesn't quite provide the right key. Fun comments are great but we need a filter when searching for "MotorHomeFacts"!

I do get frustrated trying to find the wood amongst the trees.

But it still doesn't sort the wheat from the chaff when looking for answers to a problem or question.

I must admit MHF pops out of google a lot when searching for answers.

Have you tried refining the search whenb you use the search at the top left hand side of the page (click on the magnifying glass).

If you add extra terms and the + sign in front or every word that you want it searches for all those terms and you can have the results posted as threads or as posts - that might help you find what you are looking for.

Hope that is not teaching Grandmama (or Grandad! - must be PC now, so really Grandperson) to do something with eggs Laughing

I think the search engine of MHF is the worst feature of the site. The big disappointment is the technical content which is fragmented and makes it very hard to find previous posts on a subject.
Perhaps an easier method is too have simple indexes. As an example Fiat Ducato X250 technical faults could be tabulated into an alphabetical index. I realise that it could be time consumming for someone and I am not volunteering Very Happy

The X250 is 5 years old now and as one of the largest forum of users of it I would think by now every common, and many that are not, would have been experienced by members. A typical example is adjusting the handbrake. The info is there but what a hassle to find it.If it was tabulated then people with new experiences of the same problem would be able to add to the previous topic.

I searched for handbrake adjustment Fiat, got 11 posts of which this was the second. I assume that's what you were after?

Never have been clear on the problem with searching. Clearly there is one, but ....

Now I have just searched for, handbrake adjustment Fiat, and got over 7222 hits, then I enclosed the three words in inverted commas and received just 1 hit, this thread.

I would suggest Dave that when one is as familiar with the system as you are it is very easy, but when one is like me it's always a problem. problems are there to be solved.

Not familiarity at all. Just follow the instructions on the left:
"Use +word1 +word2 to find all posts which include both word1 and word2."

Familiarity is what you have.

I have just done as you said using +word +word and have come up with 11 answers with the required one being the second one. DEEP JOY Laughing
