I guess that in the future they may well interface something with Google Street view or like you say with live cameras but it would require a permanent connection to the internet and loads of bandwidth.

To be honest I think with a lot of improvements in technology these days its trying to improve upon something that already works perfectly well. A bit gimmicky really.

My Tom Tom is ancient but I haven't felt the need to change it because it works fine except when it decides to send the van down a goat track. What would be really useful is to be able to pull over and view a suspicous road ahead. Anyone who uses a sat nav in a motorhome must have questioned its proposed route and got the map out to have a look. Viewing a suspicous bit of road would be very useful.

You can do it now I suppose in Street view but its not live and you need a laptop and a decent connection

I like that idea except for the cost.

Are we related Laughing Laughing

My first thoughts on seeing the vid were...

A, it's not following the road very well on corners.

B, This would help a lot more with instructions like take the third street on the right, at least you'd have a real visual instead of just the 3rd line on a screen, your brain would clock it and you'd just take the turning by Greggs it would effectively make it much more useful, and less gimmickry.

Perhaps with the new 4G mobile data networks coming online all sorts are possible in the not too distant future. However as a sat nav I think the should stay as they are. Live feeds are fine if your stationary and want to check out what a road is like but on the move there might be too much detail to concentrate on.
