Our van is going in today to get the sparewheel check done has anyone else had the check done if yes how long did it take we have take into today they measure it and then order the part so we will need to take it back to be fitted i think fiat should be given us some compensation as that will 2 weekends we cant go away and also the cost of the fuel to take it 45 miles there and back twice

As far as I know, the only motorhoming Oxford United supporter in Bognor.
Had a recall last week to check the spare wheel housing/retention.
Booked and was told that it may take up to an hour and a half to fix, if found to be faulty.
Went in this morning and was out again in 15 minutes - all was fine. The mechanic said that they had had a few with loose bolts and winding cables, but that most of the newer models were fine.
The same was the case when I did the recall last year for gearbox security. In and out in quick time.
Good to know that known problems are being professionally dealt with.
Had ours done yesterday only there a couple of hours, told we had had a complete new carrier fitted looked like it too.
There was a new chassis/cab there too (? from swift) easy to see how the spare wheel carrier looked on that looking underneath ours looked the same,.
Didn't think to take a photo
Also had nearside mirror replaced forless than it was goingto cost for the mirror itself on the net. Lot's of places supposedly with cheaper mirrors, but all 'out of stock'. At least i know it has been done properly.
Ours is held on by two ratchet straps as the mechanism failed leaving it hanging down 2 inches neither allowing the wheel to drop or wind up. Wasn't prepared to pay Fiat £250+ for a new one plus extra labour for removal of our towbar - this was prior to the recall.
Glad I didn't bother as now will be paid for by Fiat when we return in March.
had my recall done last week No problem with booking and replacement was waiting when i took it in Estimate of time was 1 hour. It is a completly new design and i was given a 5 min briiefing on operation And do'nt forget the new tool you require to operate.
