And for those of us who do not understand half of what Addie and Dipper17 are saying, what is a simple answer? new dongle sim in each country?

Yes, that is the best way to go - an unlocked dongle and a sim card for each country as required.

But all of the above is still worth doing and a few of the changes are very straightforward. Perhaps we shown start a sticky on this with instructions?

Cheers

Michael

Your offer to start a Sticky with instructions would be welcome.

I used to programme an IBM 1401 and fly Boeing 737s, so am technically literate. I think the problem is that the 'geeks' keep inventing new terminology, maybe to protect their own brand, which is not in the dictionary.

Well reading through these posts I noticed Opera browser mentioned and more importantly opera mobile so did a bit of digging and found Opera mobile emulator for the PC or laptop which has the advantage of lower data usage. You can download it from HERE
Great for tethering your phone to laptop.
The only thing I found was you had to scroll down a page using the UP/DOWN keys but mouse works for everything else.
Also found this meter for measuring your usage and so far quite impressed and amazed how much is used just browsing web pages.
You can get it from HERE
Hoping to test this on the T-mobile euro booster when next abroad.
