There are downloads for aires POI both on Tom Tom Home and here on MHF.
Could any kind person please recommend the best from their experience?
Thanks,

I don't know about the best, but I've used the ones from TomTom direct. The Aires POIs are excellent, as are the ones for GPL abroad. I use them all the time when travelling.

hi jedi . we have a tom tom go 730 with a docking pod to connect to tom tom home and we down loaded literary thousands of p.o.i from all over europe and its free works for us jud
In my experience no single list has all the Aires in it. We have three or four lists of Aires (and Stellplatz etc) and although some Aires appear in two or more lists it is surprising how many Aires are only in one list. If you have enough storage space on your tom tom just have both poi files.
I know that I could merge all the lists into one, but Aires come an go and so it would be a never ending task. We just live with separate files which we update regularly.
I'd agree with Mike, they are never all on one list.
As we use a Laptop with GPS (Bluetooth connected) and Autoroute for navigation I add to the published lists with a version of my own.
When ever we visit a site or get recommendations from others I add these to a Microsoft Access database including Latitude & Longitude, Location, visit dates, prices and comments of my own. These are easy to upload into Autoroute whether this can be done with other Satnavs I know not.
So using published lists and my own notes all in one place makes for easier touring!
PS Does anyone know how to call up a picture stored on your own computer from a 'balloon' in Autoroute? Linking to a website is easy but I can't find out how to link to my own pictures.
I've just had a look and the aires download on MHF is from 2005 so will be well out of date. Can't comment on the Tomtom home poi's as i've never used them for aires.
As everyone has said the CC-Infos POI's are by far the best for aires in France and are regularly updated. Other country lists from CC-Infos are a handy reference but obviously not as comprehensive as the French ones. I prefer to find more specific lists for these, eg the Bordatlas poi's for Germany, the Turismo Itinerante poi's for Italy etc.
Hope I'm not teaching you to suck eggs here but make sure you download the best option for you from the POI link Musicbus gave here ;
The first option - "Fichier Zip contenant 4 types d'aires avec icônes différentes :" - will give verified aires broken down into 4 separate ov2 categories and bitmap images:
ASV - Verified aires with m/h servicing facilities.
ACV - Verified aires either within or just outside a campsite.
APV - Verified aires de Stationement or Parking, somewhere to park up but usually without m/h servicing facilities.
AAV - Verified aires on Autoroutes, either just parking areas or areas with servicing facilities.
You will have to load each ov2 list and bitmap image separately onto your satnav. Note that this option doesn't include any 'non verified' entries.
The second option - "Fichier Zip regroupant les 4 types d'aires ci-dessus, ayant toutes la même icône :" - includes all the verified (and non verified) entries and lumps them all in the same category and bitmap image but each poi entry is prefixed by either 'AS', 'AC', 'AP' or 'AA' for visual recognition.
Personally I always prefer the first option with 4 separate categories and icons and can live without the non verified entries from the second option.
