Hi All and thanks to those who tried to help me get access to the POI's on TomToms website
Answer from TomTom

Dear Ray,

The reference number for your query is 120105-005361.

Thank you for updating your question, this is Naomi again and I am still happy to help.

I understand that you do not want to download and install POI from 3rd party website, but you wish to directly download it from MyTomTom.

I am really sorry to inform you but currently the POI data is not available for download in MyTomTom.

However you can download the POI data from 3rd party website and install them on your device using MyTomTom

However very soon the POI data will be available on the MyTomTom software for download, Until then please bear with us.

So those using "my tomtom" will have to wait or 3rd party

Regards Ray

Thought I'd have another look at this. Downloaded aires poi's from campingcar.infos. How do I get them on to my TomTom?

Baffled Confused

Jed

Its going back a couple of years but from memory you plug your tomtom into your PC, find the OV2 tom tom files you downloaded, right click and select copy. Then browse or find your Tom Tom drive which is probably displayed in MY COMPUTER as Drive E or F, click on it and find Maps or Western Europe Maps, double click on that folder then right click and past the OV2 files you copied earlier in that folder.

Im sure someone else will be along with a much simpler version!

Yes. Looks good. All you should need to do is copy these to your main maps folder on your TomTom. Mine is Western Europe Maps or something like that. The OV2 file is the important one and the bitmap file is the motorhome icon that appears on your sat nav. Just copy the whole lot to you tom tom maps folder.

Hi Jed

Your file for OV2's seems very small. Mine is over 700KB compared to your 56KB although mine has more variety of aires.

The following is what I put on another thread.

"Try this link. It's where I got mine from. Over 6000 of them.

http://www.campingcar-infos.com/index1.htm

In the search box type Fichiers OV2 pour GPS TOM TOM

Take the tick out of mot exact box.

Should take you to a page to download the French ones.

Terry "

As for copying to your satnav barryd has covered that but don't forget to backup your satnav using tomtom home. On my download there are about ten types of aires.

Terry

Thanks, Terry.

Followed your link and downloaded more complete list of aires. Used this site for instructions on installing POI's:

http://www.tomtomfree.com/Install_POI.htm

Success Very Happy

Also received new 4GB memory card today and installed full Western Europe map - no more messing about with different zones Smile

It's a shame I'm heading for Slovenia and Croatia straight from the Newark Show. Neither country on my new map Laughing

Now I know how to do it I'll do the German stops next as I'll be slowly meandering through Germany on my way south.

Thanks again - the power of MHF

Jed
