I have one that I purchased via ebay for about £20. Records in 5 minute loops. Gives pease of mind, since we imported the cash for crash brigade.

How easily do these things fit to the screen? I don't want something ugly stuck on the screen (like a satnav) - quite likely to encourage a break-in. I'd want it to tuck neatly in at the top (although that won't work with the "top-tint" on the windscreen).

That is the difficulty I'm having on both the car and the 'wagon'.

I got a cheap one so if I cant sort it out not too much is lost.

On the car I find I can get it acceptably low on the windscreen so the cable doesn't get in line of sight.

On the 'wagon' I'm not sure yet but thinking of putting it on a plate under the dashboard clip where the satnav used to go. Have now got one of them there bean bag thingly thing for the satnav.

Having a DVR with a really flexible mount would help a lot, mine being a cheapy isn't and therein lies the problem.

[quote="Kev_n_Liz"]The video report on the cheapo one seems really good, but the 4 written reports tell a different story.

At the bottom of the 7dayshop video, there's another report on a similar but much better item, £115, but with GPS tagging, well worth a look, watch the video to the end as it shows it playing back with google maps, I thought it might be very useful if you like me just wander off aimlessly in the MH

Ebay link

Not found a UK source yet.[/quote

Had mine for couple of months 2wk delivery,£115 .
Gps tagging with google maps is ace Smile .Picture quality is amazing as well, Very Happy

I've treated myself to one of the little cab video camera [from China] which cost me £21 [inc P&P] . . having inserted in a 4Gb card I've been giving it a good testing, and whilst I've no comparison with one of the more expensive units on the market, I've got to say that I'm quite pleased with it . . I've read that some say "build quality" is poor but my opinion is that its quite sturdy & well made - [although I wouldn't want to throw it around to test its capacity to resist damage] . . setup was initially quite baffling [more due to the Chinese into English translation of the instruction sheet] but once understood its a doddle to setup & operate.
The 4Gb card give a recording time of around 2.5hrs before it re-records over the earlest video clips, the date & time is captured on screen too.
[it offers a choice of 2 minute/5min or 15min segment recording with a choice of VGA & SVGA, also a choice with or without sound & choice of on/off IR lighting [although ok for making anything with 3metres lighter, I'm not sure of the benefit of lighting up the road ahead!, it will also take single shot pic's & playback via the units folding screen. whilst it does continually record-there is a 3second gap between segments so fingers crossed nothing vital happens during that period !
With a 16Gb card recording time rises to a whopping 9hrs - my guess is that an 8Gb card would be enough to record & capture a 'normal' [for me] days driving. It has an internal battery [rechargable like a mobile phone battery] but I've been using it plugged in so can't say how long you could use it before the battery goes flat-but long enough to use it away from the car/van.
The unit is fixed to an ajustable suction plate for sticking to the screen [although I've been using a spare mobile phone holder].
All in all, I have to say that [for the price] I'm quite pleased with it [but then again I love gadgets].
It comes with USB cable & 12v charger
I got mine off e-bay from China but there are UK retailers advertising them too at various prices between £25 & £40 !!
the model I got is :-
