Never yet managed BBC or ITV down on the Algarve but always get S4C clearly, pity i dint speak Welsh.

I have seen others manage to get BBC down there on a 85cm dish.

Ok cool if you just go into the edit menu and do a search on astra and then go through each channel untill you see a itv channel, the cat 910 is far and away better than the rest of automatic dishes so if you cant get anything with that unit you'll have to go to 1000mm and above dish and may be 2.5mtr dish... I cant remember what is going on astra n that also might be worth a punt still at 28 e

BBC Scotland comes in loud and clear right at the bottom of the Algarve, H4OBG. My Kathrein dish is smaller in circumference than the Oyster model.

Will be trying tomorrow the ITV channels that Clive 1821 suggested

all the main uk channels (bbc1 and 2 itv ch4 and 5) are receivable on the algarve with a 85 dish if its set up properly and you have a half decent lnb. you do NOT need a massive dish!!!!

I have been made aware this afternoon and evening how to receive BBC1, BBC2, ITV1 and C4, the channels I watch.

The dish was supplied and set-up by Road Pro and works extremely well. It was me that was at fault. I was looking in the wrong places!

Thanks for you interest

John

This really isn't going to help, however, I stayed in a Hotel in Alvor back in October.

The TV had BBC1, BBC2, ITV1, ITV2, ITV4 (I think), Channel 4 and Channel 5.

I assumed they were being received by Sat as occasionally the ITV channels would start breaking up.

So, they are all available down there.

I'm happy enought to admit I'm wrong, however, I've never been in such a position.

It might be helpful, Perseus, if you told us what you were doing wrong - so that we can avoid the same error when we get down there.
Thanks

Gives frequencies for all the free to air UK TV channels.

Not all ITV1 regions are on the same satellite, let alone the same frequency, or beams.

Some are on Astra 2d horizontals, some on A2D verticals, some on Astra 2 north (sky card reqd), some on Astra 2 south (sky card reqd), and some on Astra 1n.

Hence why reception differs depending on which region you are watching.

BBC regions are either on A2D verticals or a2d horizontals.

So if you can get ITV1 Scotland (a2d vertical) , then you will get some BBC1 and 2 on the vertical regions. BBC Scotlands are on A2D horizontals - where I am you cannot get those 24/7 even on a 3.1m dish!

What I was doing wrong, Thursday's Child, related solely to my Kathrein dish and receiver.

I wasn't doing wrong things generally, just specifically to my set-up.
