I seem to remember someone posting about a voltagr stabeliser being wired in to the fan circuit.At the time it was responsible for the fan not working on the first two speeds.......could this be throwing up the problem you have?

I am not sure about about that but have wired a heavy duty fuse holder one that goes from 20 amps -100 amps hope that does the trick thanks to everyone
