Hi Stewart, Have you turned up the volume on the tv? The volume on our unit nigh on deafened us it was that loud and very clear. I eventually found that by turning down the tv volume, the satnav volume was a lot better.

Hi Russel I have had the S7000 for almost 3 years now and I have traveled almost 16000 miles throughout Europe with it and not once has it let me down or sent me in the wrong direction.
I have no idea why some say it switches off every time they switch ignition off, It does inform you that if you don't press continue then it will switch off, I thought a nice battery saver, I have had numerous Sat Navs amongst them Garmin and The larger more expensive Tom Tom units, This IMHO makes the Tom Toms look like toys.

It has something like 22000 Campsites/Aires/Stellplatz etc already loaded, There are also many other POI files to download Including "Tesco" Aldi and so on, It also has all the Uk CC & CCC sites already programmed.

I am absolutely positive you will love it. Very Happy Very Happy

BUT I suppose it is same as everything, it's how it is used, Shocked Laughing

Mine too is extremely loud and I don't have volume on full.

Dear Santa

I am now very confused by all this so I would just like my paper map (I have already bought myself one online) and perhaps a tankful of diesel or a P&O ferry crossing.

I have been a good boy this year

Love Russell!!!! xxxx

On a serious note, this sat na thing is supposed to prevent arguments etc, so I am going to back down and have one, one make or another.

Take a look at the Garmin Dezl or 465T, I have the latter and have been very pleased with it over the past 2 years and 10000 miles. You can install any poi file on the Garmin but with the Snooper you have to rely on their support converting it for you. You can see my review here.

Regards,

Graham

Russell,
If you are new to sat navs I don't think you can be failed to be impreessed whatever you get. I have used the car versions for some years and lately a truck version. With either you still have to use common sense. Checkout the route before you depart, read the road signs and make you own judgements.

I have only usd my truck version, Navigator 11 from "Directons," for about 500 miles but even so I am finding it a bit overkill even for a large motorhome and it does try and take you on a longer route than perhaps necessary. For instance I was trying to go from Stow in the Cotswold to Oxford and no way would it route me along the A44 through Chipping Norton. Now I know this route and didn't really need the sat nav. The problem was the narrow section of about 25yds in Chipping Norton High Street which the sat nav was trying to avoid and was taking me miles out of my way to do so. Treated with respect, the narrow section is not really a problem and once I had driven through it the sat nav behaved itself and gave up trying to reroute me.

I would be interested to know if Snooper does the same?

peedee

I took one with me when we did 10 month Euro tour - never let us down once both on the main roads and off road...
The sites are accurate - one thing is that it give the contact number of the sites and a brief description.. very helpful.
Large screen is a bonus.

Hi
had ours for just over a year. We drive a 30' Aerbus RV.
I think the reason it may be a little expensive is the fact that they purchased the licence for the latest mapping. There are a couple of companies who have ex display units available, I paid £315 for mine and as it turned out was brand new.
The volume is fine and the screen good in 99% of the time. The latest update with lane recognition etc really helps. The TV is superb. As with most things it takes a while to get used to. It has given me a huge cense of security ( And yes we still check with maps ) and I would highly recommend it to anyone.
