I had a Acer and would not buy another had a lot of problems with it.
Whilst i was in the shop buying my new one a lady asked the salesman to show her what laptops they had for around £300-£400 and she stressed she did not want a Acer.
I have replaced it with a Asus i5 X53E i have had it for a couple of weeks and i am very happy with it.

The reason we are getting our Daughter an Acer is because of the good track record and faultless performance of my own 3 year old Acer that I am typing this from. You can only go on your own experiences. You were unlucky I guess, it happens with all makes and models.
