An interesting topic and very informative.

The nub is though how has Dick got on with getting the drop wire replaced and an intermediate pole erected? It will be interesting to know how the ISP and BT have reacted.

To be truthful I've done nothing and intend to do nothing for the time being Ray. The chap that came out was polite and cooperative. Within minutes he had said “I can’t do that sorry mate, H&S”. Last pole before the house is shared with the electricity board – he could not do it without special equipment and I think a second presence. He said it was recent practice.

In the time honoured way faced with further days of delay I asked him if he could “lash” it and if he did could they trace it back to him. He said YES and NO and did it. Ben I am back up to normal speed even faster, it learnt in less than 15 days.

As to the future? If I detect deterioration I’ll take it as a reminder to do some woodland maintenance Wink

Many thanks to all of you experts who have given me a clear understanding of the situation.

Good luck

Hi Rosbotham

Thanks for the reply, as a professional I am aware that ADSL2+ is the current standard and that it's more complicated than that (in many areas), my intension was to offer a basic understanding/appreciation, so I targeted the audience.

In answer to my own query; 'basically' ADSL2+ increases the amount of channels over ADSL1/2 to 512, (frequency increase to 2.2 MHz).

Thanks
