Am currently in France with my new Alfa awlus036h wifi extender and, whilst I can pick up loads of wifi signal (all protected), I cannot find a nearby McDonalds EVEN WHEN SITTING IN IT!!!

What am I doing wrong? Any tips? I am very frustrated

David

Are you not seeing a "Cloud" on your list of connections?

Could it be that the one you are sitting in has not yet had WiFi enabled - or may be temporarily offline ?

I assume you are using the Ralink software and searching for wifi?

If so and it's not seeing McDonalds does the wifi on your computer see it without having the Alfa attached?

I suspect your software is not loaded correctly, has it worked in the past. Is the light on the Alfa flashing blue? Alan.

If you are sitting inside then you should get a good signal without a booster. Are there any other users around you? Have you asked the staff if the wifi connection is working?

As others have said, how do you know that there is a wi-fi signal for you to connect to? If there is, then can you connect using your laptop's wi-fi rather than the extender?
