we spent a week at Kobarid, at an ACSI site. it is in the mountains with a beautiful clear mountain river, some good walks and white water rafting.
some very interesting first world war history too!
very friendly people and good value food and drink.

Also, you might contact Adria who have their factory there - they may give you a factory tour, if that sort of thing interests you.

Contact details are:

ADRIA MOBIL, d.o.o.
Straška cesta 50,
8000 Novo mesto,
Slovenia

tel: +386 7 39 37 100
fax: +386 7 39 37 200
E-mail: info@adria-mobil.si

I found it a fascinating tour when we went - modern and full of gadgets.

Colin

From Maribors hot springs which are well worth a visit and on to the Adriatic coast, Slovenia is full of interest. The Postojna Caves and the Lipitza horses are all within easy reach in this fairly small clean country.
Enjoy all!
Alan

Slovenia is easily my favourite country in Europe. It is very clean and modern and when you visit you can see why it was the first 'second wave' country to reach the economic conditions suitable for entry into the European Union. Don't consider it 'Eastern European'

Some info on our blog might help:
http://www.europebycamper.com/p/country-guide_01.html#Slovenia

I'm very surprised that nobody has mentioned Lake Bled in favour of the Adria Factory tour! Famous for the rowing championships but also a delightful river where you can boat across to the tiny Island in the middle with a church either under your own steam or by shuttle boat.

Trigav National Park also excellent, with the Ski Lifts operating in Summer giving spectacular views across the peaks

The capital Ljubljana is also great, a very compact and young and vibrant capital with some fantastic (and cheap) restaurantes.

Their tourist information website is first class and worth a few hours studying and note taking including campsites and motorhome stopovers: http://www.slovenia.info/

Hi,

We also enjoyed Slovenia when we visited a few years ago.

The area around Lake Bled and Lake Bohinj is spectacular.

There are some good campsites including a few ACSI discount ones and a few aires.

Have a look on our website HERE

for some ideas and let us know if you need any further advice Cool

Enjoy your trip

Steve

Thanks to all. It looks lovely. We would like to go back to Austria as we really loved it and have thought of heading to Slovenia first. Our first time in that area last year (Bavaria, Austria, Czech Republic) and we found the people to be lovely, the food, especially in Austria, to be great and the scenery and villages/towns stunning. Slovenia seems to fit all that criteria.

Forgot to ask, does anyone know how dog-friendly Slovenia is? Our faithful pooch comes too! Thanks

Being from Bled myself, I do not have much to add. Spas in the eastern part of the country are also good value. Slovenia is dog friendly, we have a lot of dogs and there are no restrictions in campsites. If you need any information, I'll be happy to answer.
Regards,
Cilka (enjoying warm Spanish sun at the moment)
