My Bessacarr is going back to Swift in February to have some work done to the floor. I need to remove the refillable gaslow bottles before it goes in. Anyone ever done this and are there any problems I should be aware of? There is still gas in the bottles. Any help would be appreciated.
Instructions say the bottles have non return valves so no problem with disconnecting the hoses. There me be a little left in the pipes at low pressure but that will rapidly dissipate
It will scare you to death, but there is nothing to worry about.
No gas will escape from the bottle itself (assuming the valve is turned off of course) but you will get a loud and surprisingly large rush of gas as you disconnect the fill hose.
This is only the liquified gas which was in the fill hose, but since it expands about 200 times as it (instantly) turns to a gas, it will be a bit alarming.
Just keep your hands clear, or wear gloves would be better, since you could get a nasty freeze burn!

I've done it, and it's not just a bit of low pressure gas to dissipate. There's another thread about it from a few months ago, and a change of underwear was required by one member who wasn't expecting the large cloud of freezing cold gas!!

Yes I didn't know that Dave thanks. I was under the impression that once you stopped filling that the dispensing pump evacuated your fill hose and the pumps fill hose.
Strangely the gaslow book only says "it will take a while for the gas trapped in the hose to dissipate" they forgot to include a spare pair of skiddies are recommended

No probs Techno - that's the benefit of the forum - we can all learn from each other. (I just ordered the PIR LED lights Roger was recommending - hadn't heard of them before. )
It's a bit terrifying first time you do it, as the natural reaction is to quickly nip up the connection so the gas escapes quite slowly. It's amazing how much gas there is, and how long it takes to be released, and you begin to think the cylinder must be leaking.
Best thing is to wear gloves and (with a stirring cry of "Sh** or bust!" ) slacken off the connector and let it rush out. It will stop within a few seconds, and you will know the cylinder is not leaking.
PIR LEDs Yes now then I bought some little square ones from IKEA very cheap as a pair. Require 3xAAA batteries each. Self adhesive backing. great for the wardrobe or overhead cupboard. £4.99 I think

It's a phrase that (to me) does not carry any literal meaning or implication.
It was very common when I was a kid, and just meant, "Grit your teeth and go for it!"
I suppose in these PC days one shouldn't use it for fear of upsetting someone. Basic Anglo Saxon is no longer acceptable . . . but crudely graphic gynaecological "humour" from the likes of Jo Brand is perfectly alright!!
