Edit to my last post: I've now got the sound back. Somehow the short program Notifier had got lost and so I have downloaded it again and all is well; sound, vision and a mail summary all working well !

(I'm not an IE knocker though it did give me a lot of problems and I don't now even have it on my computer (well, knowingly anyway !)
