I am considering kitting out our VW Lupo (1.4S) with a towkit and pulling it behind our (surprise surprise) VW 2.5 TDi (Auto) T4 Calypso Compass.

1/ Is it considered too heavy a car?
2/ How much would it (or any tow car) affect the MPG?

Thanks in advance

Paul

Paul, if I were you I would do some research on the suitability of the VW TDi auto box for towing any distance, and whether you can get a kit to fit a cooler for the ATF. I know mine gets quite hot and I feel that it is close to its limits on Italian motorways in 30C+ outside weather even without towing anything.

Thanks SD

We'd pretty much come to the conclusion that our bicycles will be fine (as in our trip to Portugal 18 months ago)

The cost of the kit/pulling the car/faff when stuck up some wrong turn alley puts me off. Maybe if we were genuinely fulltiming and stoppping in places for months on end then a car would be useful but we will still have sufficient time to plan to move from one spot to another without the need to dart out in a car rather than move the m/h Smile
