My Kindle 3G, purchased Dec 2011, a present from the co-pilot, gives me access to my webmail on Orange.
No longer will I be carrying 10 books (five each) for a fortnight away!
The wifi also picks up hotspots (Costa, McD etc in UK) and works fine.
p.s. I bought the co-pilot the ordinary Kindle cos I thought the 3G would be too techie for her to handle - oops here she comes -- OUCH!
Hi, I have now purchased a new Kindle from Tesco Direct. It is the keyboard type. I believe the new Kindle Touch is not avaliable in the UK yet. I have tried it to get mhf on the web browser using 3G and with wifi both worked ok. Many thanks for all your replies

I,ve been using my 3G Kindle to download a daily newspaper in France, UK and Spain for the last 9 months and at a cost of £9.99 a month is a considerable saving on buying an out of date paper for 3euros.
I signed up for a gmail account and that works well, also I can keep in touch with friends and family via facebook.
The kindle keyboard is a bit small and the connection speed can be slow at times but as it costs nothing to access the internet, I would highly recommend it to fellow travellors.
