Weight shouldn't be an issue, but volume might. There is no info of what your van is, but on my Aclass I undid the restraining strap (like a seat-belt connector) and made a new hole in the webbing to give an extra couple of inches of "drop" when in the up-position. It didn't affect the head-room in the cab noticably, but does make me happier about travelling with the bed made up (although logic tells me that the bedding is weaker than the roof, so it shouldn't cause any pressure damage).

Our 2inch topper was much better than my previous 1inch topper - what price comfort?

Hi there is information on DVLa web site which refers to tax expiry while abroad, I think you can tax in advance something like 3 months before your current one expires.

we got daughter to renew road tax on line while we were away but kept new disc at home. Thus only offense I believe would be failure to display current disc.
Daughter fprwarded confirmation to my lapto so if stopped could prove we had 'done it' but not taken risk of posting disc abroad.
