Can I ask a dumb question does this do away with the need for an FM signal when listening to the radio?

All my music is now on an ipod so I got one of >these<
I now put the ipod where the CD used to go. Smile
Handy bit of kit and you can get them for about £99 now.

No same product, cost has gone up a bit from when i looked £280 now. Halfords are selling it for £299 thats how I know it didnt work with an Ipod it does work with an Ipod touch but then that's not an Ipod. Maybe it does now. Wink

I do think that it still doesn't allow you to switch between your apps from the in built screen you still have to use your Iphone so sticking it away is not a real option.

Ah yes, reduced at the moment, Normal web price £349 special offer £299

The £399 I said was installed, set up, and demonstrated and of course back up if an when required. Average installation time about two hours.

I am not sure what Apps you can't access through the screen, but we have the Pioneer people on our stand at Excel so anyone that wants any in depth tecky information can ask and get an answer from the horses mouth.

So exactly what does this do that a smart phone and bluetooth head can't at the moment if you have to switch apps on the phone? It must be a lot for 2-3 hundred quid.

You don't have to switch apps on the phone.

It is a double DIN touch screen unit that is designed to work with an iPhone for those that want a new head unit.

It handles your telephone calls, allows you to navigate, play your music, can be used a crystal clear monitor if you add a rear view or side camera.

No one has said that it is for everyone, in the same way that no one has said that everyone should have a iPhone. It is just that the majority of us that have bought iPhones like the way that everything works so well, we are happy to incorporate it into other "gizmo's"

I don't need to be told that you can do the same thing cheaper/easier/differently I know, but people buy big expensive motorhomes and some make their own, each to their own!

My opinion doesn't make me right or wrong, it is just MY opinion the same way that your opinion is yours!

I looked at it and it looked very interesting, but decided to wait and see if it developed a bit more into a mk2 version

Apologies I didn’t mean to disparage it. I was initially excited about a radio smartphone combination that is as you imply revolutionary. It was a triumph of hope over experience that I now feel embarrassed about. I thought that it might solve my radio reception problem that I have thrown a lot of money at.

I had hoped that the combination of 3g phone and radio might some how have managed to bypass the broadcast signal, the price tag of £399 made me even more hopeful that there was some new technology.

I posted with the question 2 days ago and didn’t get an answer. That’s why I choose a slightly more provocative post. Apologises again, I’m sure it has great benefits particularly for those without a passenger.
