Any opinions on the 2.3 ltr 150mj on a Swift Kon Tiki tag axle? ours is just managing to get to 15mpg with no pulling power.

I has a 2.3 130bhp one on my 3500kg Mh and it pulled very well for its power / weight ratio. I got a return of approx 27mpg averaged over the 18,000 miles I had it. What is the MGW of the Kon Tiki?

In any event I think that as you report it "has no pulling power and only doing 15mpg" that there is something wrong that needs investigation.

Hi.

We have a tag axle burstner 748 2004 on the 2.8jtd and get 21 mpg. To give it pulling power we had to chip it and lower the 5th gear. Together it made the van 100% better.

Sounds like you have a bit of a problem Thats RUBBISH economy !!

Have you spoken with either your supplying dealer or local Fiat dealer?? I would be asking them to "plug in" to your ECU and check the config.

As a guide my Sprinter based MH which weighs 4000Kg and has a 2,7 litre 5 cylinder engine returns between 25 and 28mpg. Very Happy Very Happy

Hi, to the returning posts, The MH was collected directly from Swift "in Hull" this was a replacement after a 14 month battle. Our original 649 had catastrophic build quality issues (overhead bunk miss-build, electrics failure, hot water failures, the Habitation door failed every trip out, subsequent second door fouled the aperture, all internal locker doors delaminated. Toilet leaked internally, I could go on). So we have not had a good time. and now the power issue. Fiat dealer has confirmed that no faults are present on the ECU, just laughed at the thought of a 2.3ltr attempting to pull 5000gk, very helpful "not".

2008 2.3 litre Autotrail Cheynne 660 on a Maxi 4 tonne chassis pulling a Toyota Aygo on A frame. We still only have 7,000 miles on the clock, remapped by Boostersuk 22 - 23 mpg .

If we are not towing about 25 mpg,

That would be on the older Euro 4 engine not the newer Euro 5 for which I have some concerns on economy.
See my post here Euro 5 economy?

This is also on the older Euro 4 engine not on the Euro 5 150MJ as reported by the OP.
