Funny this should come up. I have been wondering why since the digital switchover in my area last year, that we have been unable to get channels that we could before and others that we couldn't get before that we now get. I presumed it was because we had a stronger signal that new channels appeared, but didn't explain why others had disappeared. I retuned and have since looked (and re retuned) but haven't been able to find anything that says 'first time installation' or 'factory reset'. Looks like I will have to read the manual
There must be an option to reset your receiver, what make and model of receiver do you have?
Gerry
Its a Sony Bravia. I've had another look and there doesn't seem to be a factory reset or first time installation which I have seen on our other tvs, just an auto set up which is where it asks for language and shop/home etc. It doesn't ask whether the exsisting stations are to be deleted which we have on the m/h tv. Checked out the manual and nothing mentioned other then what I have done. The Freeview on the big Panasonic in the lounge picks up far more stations. Not terribly worried, more puzzled really.
Sony Bravia is a range name given to all Sony flat panel TVs. But never mind, you have given me the information that I need. You need to select the Auto Setup option. This will reset your TV to factory defaults and enable you to correctly retune the TV.
Gerry
Thanks for your help Gerry. The Auto set up option doesn't make any differnce so I guess that is what we are going to get. I assume the big Panasonic TV has a better Freeview receiver which is why it gets more channels.

The tuner quality is unlikely to be a factor, in fact they are possibly the same tuner. It is more likely to be a signal related issue. Have you tried the Sony in the same location as the Panasonic. If you can tune it in from the same feed as the Panasonic and then put it back in its normal place, you may cure the problem. Failing that a manual tune of all 5 muxes is the answer. At least you are in Gloucestershire so full strength signal from all transmitters.

Sorry, Digital TV channels. If you pm your postcode to me I shall check the manual tuning settings.
