The authentic earthen-wear tagine is best but you are unlikely to find one in Euro/Uk and they are in any case quite delicate and do not last long.....

We were looking forward to buying one or two in Morocco but were a bit surprised to find them in Windsor in the Windsor Royal Shopping:

They're in the Marrakech Bazaar (H in the Arts and Crafts section), £3-4 each. It's only a small stall but has some fascinating stuff and has whetted my appetite for the real thing. ( ...and no, I'll wait to buy a tagine). As Ray says, I'd not realised they were so fragile and it is almost as if they are intended to be disposable.

Edit: It doesn't look as if they do them mail order: too fragile ?

A big +1 for the IKEA tagines. Larger than most others we had seen.

I'll ask Mrs O about recipes when she gets home.

John

well, thanks for all the advice. I tried the tagine at the weekend with one of the recipese recommended. It made a lovely tender spicey meal and I am seeking to try other dishes.

Thanks everyone
