Had an opportunity to see the Snooper at a local shop at the weekend and it seemed ok, nice big screen, but even after seeing it I think I'll still prefer the Garmin on balance. So I've now ordered the Garmin Dezl from Amazon, should be here in a few days.

Hi There, been following this thread, as I am thinking about replacing my TT 730 for a new unit. How is the reversing camera input managed, does it replace the GPS screen when plugged in, or powered up, or is there a touch screen switch to have a look behind.
Also are POI lists available in the correct formats for it?

Assuming you mean the Dezl.
There is what looks like a 3.5mm jack socket for a video feed. I've not tried it though so can't comment on how it operates.
The POI's work well and it will take both Garmin and csv file formats.
Overall it's ok.... it's still not quite what I want in a Motorhome sat nav.
I'd like to be able to preference the roads it routes you down, setting A roads higher than B roads. It's been sending me down roads without a white line scary when you're new to motorhoming!

Doesn't it have a "Fastest Route" facility? as TT has, this should keep you away from the worst of the slower, narrower roads.
John
Hi John,
Yes it has all that and more. You can install any poi's of your choice (unlike snooper) and the Lifetime map updates for around £50 are great (I got my first update for 2012 this week) the Garmin updater automatically on your PC tells you when one is available. I have the 465T but it is virtually the same as the Dezl except for the bigger screen etc. You can see my Garmin articles here

I have a very cheapo and old Garmin in my car (bought from Amazon and works well anywhere) and an expensive TomTom Rider on my bike which has been faultless over Europe with the facility to enter routes easily. With a new (to me) motorhome of 4.5tonne and 8m long x 3m high I decided I wanted something to account for being a bit bigger than a motorbike. Hence the Snooper. It has worked well in Europe although I would say it feels rather more primitive than the TomTom. It does warn about low bridges though and it has all the ACSI sites on POIs. The volume is pretty hopeless though. My TomTom worked quickly with Bluetooth on my phone but Snooper struggles. I can pick up phone calls on my phone on the TomTom but not on the Snooper - probably a good thing when on holiday!
It would have been nice to spend one sum of money for one decent sat nav that woulds have covered all bases. However life is never like that is it? I haven't worked out how to tell the Snooper to avoid toll roads but I need to search the handbook I suppose.
However all 3 satnavs are better than the human map-phobic who sits next to me and with fewer arguments...

Kwaka,
I have been watching this thread with interest and have also decided to go for the Dezl from Amazon, fancy the 'feel good' factor and much cheaper than another van !!
Can you please tell me if it comes with a windscreen mounting bracket and a home charging unit or do they have to be bought additionally.
Thanks,
Norman.

I got my Dezl (with lifetime FM Traffic updates) from eBay (new) 3 weeks ago for £260
I love it and it came with the car lead to power the sat nav and FM traffic receiver through the (stick-on) dash mount bracket
No stick on windscreen mount provided - but they are available
No home charger but I have loads of (well 3 or 4) mini USB mains chargers from previous Blackberry and HTC phones and a nice little mini to micro USB adaptor which does the biz (or I can use my Kindle charger...)
I already had a Garmin "bean bag" from my 2610 which fits the Dezl and works fine for me
I have used the traffic detour several times on my daily commute up the A34 to Oxford.
Not yet used in Motorhome mode but I'm sure it will be just fine
I have the beanbag mount too and find it great no more rings on the windscreen and it goes anywhere. Got my first map 2012 map update last week I must say what a good service the map updater is; notifies automatically, plug in and away you go 90 minutes later job done.
