After what seems forever, I have been considering the feasibility of purchasing a motorhome this year, not immediately but possibly within the next few months as majority of my funds are ploughed into MHF / ODB Smile

Its taken this long to claw my way back up financially with a family to put myself in a situation where its even possible

Now my requirements are huge and my budget is small Wink isn't that always the case Wink

I need something big enough for a family i.e. 2 adults, 2 children and a dog

Preferably at least one fixed bed (two preferable)

I like garage layouts with transverse beds

4 seated belts

the less addon / accessories kit on the van the better such as satellite tv / solar / reversing cameras etc (keeps the budget lower and with Outdoorbits I can obviously kit out a van at trade prices)

Large payload (family + all the gubbins associated with such toys / books / bikes etc)

Don't want anything too old but not worried if its not in its burst of youth (budget means newer isn't going to be possible)

Budget £15k ish possibly higher for the right van Wink

I know this isn't a lot for my needs, but budgetary constraints keeps me low but you wouldn't believe how frustrating it is running a huge motorhome portal like MHF and listening to people in the shop relating stories of their travels and not doing it yourself Crying or Very sad

So any ideas / links / pointers would be great, had an Ebay browse and a clickthrough our classifieds so any other useful links would be good

Pretty much the same vehicle we're on the lookout for ourselves, for the same budget!

Hope we don't get involved in a bidding war on ebay! Laughing

We quite like shorter vans if possible ourselves, so have been looking at the Hymer C524 and the Dethleffs A58. Also the Carioca 656 looks ok.

Keen on a garage so we don't have to drive to shows with a gazebo and all our stand gear all over the seats and floor. Can also keep Brit Stops stuff in the garage when at home, instead of indoors.

We're off to Manchester tomorrow to have a nose round a few.

Good luck with your search.

Steve

Dunno about vans but I suggest you read up on the Long rage wifi antennas http://www.motorhomefacts.com/ftoptitle-66595-long-range-wifi-aerials.html if your going to go off over the water cos you will have to keep the forum running!!!! Skip the first 40 pages.

Good luck finding your van.

Hi Nuke

Good luck with the hunt.

I'd guess that if you want something with 4 belted seats within budget you may have to concentrate on European rather than British manufacturers. What do you think about LHD? Would something like this suit? I.e. no garage, a bit over budget, payload unknown? I've no connection with the dealer and have only asked them occasional questions and obtained civil helpful replies or referrals. Their vans seem quite well presented: http://www.edenmotorhomes.co.uk/Vehicle%20spec%20sheets/Hymer%20610.htm

No too far from you for a day out maybe?

Terry
