This was my post originally, thank you to everyone for your fantastic contribution, I certainly wasn't bothered by post getting slightly off topic.

I am always very happy with Eddies knowledgeable and unbiasesd posts, with Eddies jokes they obviously were left overs from his Xmas crackers!!!

The post has helped me decide to for a KVS R4SL

Aescules I am glad you've got what you wanted out of your post and would like to hear how you get on with the purchase and installation of the product.
I certainly didn't know until eddievanbitz post that the Max Dome MXL007 comes out of the same Korean factory as Camos/Roadpro/VDO which does put a different light on what are the choices out there, especially on warranty and reliability

Just backing Eddie and KVH up... Ive installed loads of them, they are ultra reliable. I have one myself, an R4SL on my caravan. So in my opinion, yes they can be a little more expensive than some other domes, but you get what you pay for... a quality product made with metal components in the USA.

I also back up the costings argument, USA v UK prices... Our government DOES NOT make it easy to trade in this country. As a retailer or importer, taxes alone slate us. I know that the UK importer of KVH also has to convert the US systems so that they work in the UK, this again is extra cost over the basic US unit price.

Thanks for that info Snelly i am looking to get a system that I can use in the South of Spain and I am aware that dome systems have a limited range, are there any that could get Sky+?? I have used the Maxview 66cm portable dish down there, but would prefer to move to a fully automatic system and get the same range

KVH Do a Twin LNB System (required for Sky+ functionality) as do Roadpro in their ranges Smile

My two penny worth is you'll need something like this (for the bbc channels from astra D in the south of spain), and the automatic dish you are suggesting, idealy you need at least 1.5Mtr dish but then you are looking at a manual dish or a broadcast dish which would be £10,000 minimum!!

The Katheren CAP910

or the Ten Hafft digital

I prefer the CAP910 is a much better system....

The maxview seeker 85cm is a nice product, that is twin lnb as standard and being an 85cm open dish system, it will give you greater coverage v's a dome system

Afternoon all,

So am I right in thinking that you have to park up on a site with no tree cover so as to get a signal, as most of the sites we chose have tree cover from the hot sun in southern France ?

Same with all satellite systems Norm, they need line of sight to the satellites
