I can see your point so how about instead of substituting the asterixes for a swear word or a mangled URL for a link Nuke programs a phrase that explains what is going on ....something like "censored" or " naughty word "
How do you think that would that go down?

OK Mike. Thank you. I have obviously completely misunderstood the meaning of the above. You have explained that it does not prohibit the use of asterisks, excellent. I am sure you can see how the confusion arose, it does rather appear to suggest that the substituting characters in an attempt to circumvent the censors is against the rules. The issue then is one of intent. If asterisks are not used in an attempt to circumvent the censors then there is no problem.
You further clarify by adding that it actually means, "If a member decides that it is necessary to use a word that may offend but substitutes asterixes, or other symbols ( thank you Stanner ) in place of the word they have not broken that forum rule."
I appreciate the clarification and the freedom it gives all members to express themselves, Alan.

Suitable swear words might include the following (if they appear as a row of astericks you now know why )
M P (needed the space between the letters - it reflects the one between the ears)
Con servative (same reason for appearance as below)
La bour
Lib er al demo c rat
Coal ition
Moderato*
Car a van (that one needs lots of spaces so it is obviously serious)
Fuel tacks (needs respelling to avoid)
Gas sing
I am sure that others will come to light as subscribers put their thinking hats on..........
