You would need to take a ferry from Ploce to Trpanj and then take road 414 down the peninsula towards Dubrovnic.
Only my advice but I'd just take the coast road down to "no man's land" and cross the 3.5 miles of Bosnia "uninsured".
People are doing it every day and the border guards just wave you through (albeit with stern faces)
When we tried to cross into Bosnia at Izacic the guards were more inquisitive. There was no problem leaving Croatia but once through no man's land and the Bosnian border guards gave us problems. They took all our documents into the office and 10 minutes later I asked if I could be of assistance. It appeared the imported Hiace VIN didn't compute with records - one digit short (although one of the guards was a whole lower arm short!) I explained that it was an import to Europe and he seemed satisfied. Still no chance of getting through the barrier though - a detour of 60 miles to another border crossing to buy "insurance" was what he suggested. I'd had a taste of this carry on during a bike trip crossing Greece to Bulgaria some years previously so I held my ground.
He then flicked through my passport........."Edinbourg" he said "Heart of Midlothian football club?" I explained I lived a few hundred metres from the Club's ground although don't follow the game.................
"Heart of Midlothian beat FK Sarevejo in 2003 - good game - you can visit my country!"
Amazing how a bit of diplomacy can win the day We didn't stay long in Bosnia, in fact left that same evening at another checkpoint. It's still smarting from the attrocities of the 1990s war and there's evidence of it all around in wrecked buildings, tanks and planes.
Hmmm! We had a great time in Bosnia, although it was a real eye opener vis-a-vis the war and the siege of Serajevo. Good campsite at Serajevo, just a tram ride (cheap) into the city centre. It's only when you're there do you realise that the Serbs won hansomely. Repiblika Srpska, nominally part of Bosnia, is a de facto part of Serbia.
The only trouble with Bosbia - policemen looking for back-handers stopping vehicles on any pretext
We gave up on the insurance and took the ferry from Ploce to Trpanj and then the road down the peninsula towards Dubrovnic. The ferry costs around £30 per crossing. I didn't feel confident taking the insurance risk and driving thru Bosnia in a new van
We diverted to visit Loviste, Camping Denka, at the end of the peninsula, a superb site right by the sea, and a super welcome from the owners. Checking in took over an hour, we refused a third bottle of beer until we were parked on a pitch, and learnt most of his family history, but what a place!!
Also the Pelegesiac peninsula produces the best wine in Croatia and was well worth the visit.
I hope you enjoy Croatia as much as we did last June/July
