To the original poster.Although you can tweak the settings on your dish by going into menu, settings, antenna configuration you will only marginally improve on what the Kathrein does automatically. Something like .2 of 1 degree on elevation ot maybe 1 deg on skew so its hardly worth bothering. I live in Spain and have experimented with trying to improve the signal by tweaking the settings on my Kathrein. For sure the Kathrein is the one to have. however on an auto system on the roof of a MH we can't really have much bigger dishes so you have to settle for what you have or carry a bulky manual setup around. Finally bigger is only better if the whole package is working together . Many people down here by 1.3 metre cheap dishes with poor quality LNB and waste their money, I get a better signal with my smaller Kathrein dish.. The Kathrein as a package works brilliantly and I think that is why it has the edge on others. The receiver is very good and the dish with its own LNB is remarkable when twinned with either the Kathrein box or a sky box the setup both myself and Clive have.

Since my initial posting I have moved on to a site about 15 miles north of Malaga. I am now picking up BBC1 + 2 (Including all regional variants), All ITV,s (including 2,3 and 4). Only thing missing is BBC3 and 4. After reading other postings it would appear that there has been some jiggery pokery by the broadcasters and all the main channels from the 2D satellite have been moved onto this new Astra 1N satellite. Unfortunately this appears to be only temporary until new satellites are in place. Not sure what temporary means though. Will be interesting to see what signal strength will be like when all work is completed.

Hi Mike, as you have noticed ASTRA (SES) have now moved all transponders to 1n from 2d and you should find it much better, was in faro on friday and that's when at 05:00hrs the change was made..... all bbc channels are fine including bbc3 and 4 at 37 02'07.50"N, 7 49'17.80"W which was at Olhao

On the Portugal border at 37 13'39.03"N, 7 26'40.81"W

Caceres at 39 28'49.01"N, 6 22'07.69"W

all working fine except ASTRA 2a and b north which were very poor....

Now at Burgos at 42 20'27.95"N, 3 39'27.89"W

All channels are working fine including north beams from 2a and 2b....

all test were done at 08:00gmt and 22:30gmt

Using the CAP910 800mm dish and using the normal sky pace receiver which about same as the main receiver....

Jon (pcandsatguy) did suggest that the replacement satelites should be in service within the year... but nothing has definatley been mentioned from ses as far as I understand.... I am afraid that ses will make the 1n content far more directional with the replacement satellites..... I can only hope not.... I hope that helps you all and at least this season you all should be able to see the main bbc and itv channels....

I have checked with my ten hafft dish and receiver and I get much poorer results by about 9dB.....

2e will launch 2nd quarter 2013

All three have various beams, from spot to wide, that can cover individual counties (ie the UK), europe, africa and the middle east.

The exisiting satellites have spot, wide, north, south and a nigerian beam.

But yes, as satellite and beam technology has moved on you can be that the dropoff of those beams is sharper than currently.
