I use the satnav android whilst abroad. Maps has the icampsite file loaded. Without connecting to the internet I locate the site required as a destination and the satnav gives the directions. No charges incurred. Simple but effective. You are right in mentioning about not having the roaming for the internet activated. Yes it would be expensive.

Regards

There are apps that store maps on the device and can therefore work without a Data connection, NavFree is one, but Google Maps requires a Data connection to get directions.

Agreed. But if you go direct to the satnav, the sat nav accepts the location, sets the direction and then uses gps. Maps is not initiated on the internet.

I would be tempted to seek a refund.......

if you paid by credit card then your contract is with them if it cost more than £100 so I would contact the cc company and tell them it does not work and you wish to revoke the payment.

They may huff and puff but that way you are tackling the vendor via the back account - if you dispute the payment the cc will recall it for you from the vendor.

That is one way to tackle the problem that MIGHT get you somewhere as it does not do what you were told it would

worth a try,

Dave

Thanks for the responses. The Icampsites option sounds good but do I need the internet enabled on my phone to download the app in the first place, or will it allow access over wifi? New to this stuff and dont want to get hit by large charges.

I think I will contact the Credi Card Co and progress a claim down that route, more difficult whilst on the road abroad though I suspect.

My logins are going to be intermittent at best as we roam looking for wifi sites to use

Cheers all

You say that you have been referred to a premium rate number.

It might be worth trying http://www.saynoto0870.com

There might be a non premium number you could call.

Hope you get the problem sorted

While in France and until you can get your show purchase resolved, I think I would buy a cheap Mio or Navman European Sat Nav from Aldi, Lidl or large supermarket for about €69 and move on.

Ray.
