Hi.
As the heading says..
I’ve just bought my first motor home and as the novelty hasn’t worn off yet I am going to purchase some miracle polish called
“Grease lighting” and give it a good polish.
Now as I will be cleaning the roof is it strong enough to walk on or will I have to work from a ladder from the side.
It doesn’t have any roof box or ladder fitted.
The motor home is a Moncayo Meditterneo 320 on a 2Ltr Fiat
Thanks in advance

Vince

In theory yes it is, and I have seen people climbing all over them, but would I climb on the roof, no chance.

Many owners do...I would never consider walking on the roof of my MH. Wink

I shuffle on hands/knees, spreading my (ample!) weight as much as possible. I wouldn't want to stand/walk as it would concentrate the weight in one spot.

Hi Vince, I have no knowledge of your particular van and without that knowledge would advise you to tread carefully. There are a lot of vans constructed sufficiently strongly for you to walk on, some of the more budget built vans are not safe to do so! If you spread the load by placing a plank from side to side across the vertical walls you should be OK to go up there just be careful not to fall off.
Ideally wait for an owner that knows for sure.

Thanks for the quick replies.
Been having a look again and think I will work from a ladder at the side.
If I was to slip there's nothing really to grab to save me the 9ft drop to the ground. javascript:emoticon('Surprised')

Plus it depends also on your weight. Embarassed . I think you have made the best decision.

I clean my roof with the very same product! and I walk on the roof to do it, that's the main reason we had a ladder fitted. Unfortunately I'm a 17 stone bat fastard though. Laughing

Most roofs can cope. The question should perhaps be 'How strong is your nerve'. It does not look that far up until you are actually up there. I stand on step ladders with an extendible brush and do my best. That has to do. Shocked

I have arranged for my 9 stone window cleaner to clean my MH roof in the next few weeks. This will be better for both the roof and me as I could also be considered a FB and I would not want to put my roof to the test.
